You’ve probably been suggested to try telneting to an SMTP server if you are trying to troubleshoot connection problems.
This is because there may be one or more security policies interfering with your use of MidpSSH, including your device's security or firewalls.
First find out the host name of an SMTP server. The SMTP server of your ISP is a good idea. Create a new session with the SMTP server as the host name, and follow the host name with :25 to connect to the SMTP port.
Then try to connect to that session. If you get connected then you’ve learnt something; go back to the page you came from and see what you’ve learnt.
If you don’t get connected then you’ve learnt something as well! Go back to the page you came from and see what you’ve learnt.
Note: You need to have a build of MidpSSH with Telnet in it.
