• On one Sony Ericsson K610i MidpSSH v1.4.20 fails when connecting, giving an “Session Error: Writer:” message.
• Upgrading (when the phone asks: Application already exists. Replace?) to v1.6 shows the same problem.
• Solution: delete the old version and perform a clean install of MidpSSH v 1.6

EDIT: I get this error on my w880i both with the current stable version 1.6.0 and the development version, can anyone verify?

To rectify this error I set the Java internet setting to “PAYT MMS” - I found it in the “Connectivity” part of the phone’s setting menu (Sony Ericsson v630i). Scroll down to “Internet Settings” and change “Settings for Java” to whatever sort of plan you’re on.

• On one Sony Ericsson W880i MidpSSh v1.7.3 as MIDP 2.0 Full version as declared in the supported device section constantly says “Reader: Couldn’t read from socket” when connecting, tried some other versions also MIDP 1.0, never worked out for me
