Sessions

A session contains the details for connecting to a host. You configure sessions in the Sessions Menu before connecting.

The Sessions Menu can be accessed from the Main Menu. In order to make a connection to a host you must configure it as a session in this menu.

In the Sessions menu you can:

  • Host - the host name of the server to connect to (required). Note that you can include a port number in here if necessary by appending a colon and then the port number to the host name, eg. myserver.com:993
  • Type - whether to use SSH or Telnet. Note that this may not be displayed if your build of MidpSSH doesn’t offer you the choice.
  • Username - for SSH connections you can configure a username to connect as (optional). If you don’t enter one then you will be prompted when you connect.
  • Password - for SSH connections you can configure the password to use (optional). If you don’t enter one then you will be prompted when you connect, unless you have selected to use a public key...
  • Use Public Key - for SSH 2 connections you can opt to use public key / private key authentication rather than a password.
